In the options window for the copper fills, there are options to set the type of pad connection. The default will connect the pads by only a few small traces, and the type 'solid' will create a connection that encompasses the entire pad.
Is there any downside to the 'solid' setting?
Sorry if it is not explained well, my KiCad GUI language is not english and even if it were, it's still hard to explain...
I usually use an American fab house, but once I needed a bunch of cheap boards for a learn-to-solder class I was teaching. I ordered a batch through Seeed and one or two boards had this unintentional short between a trace and a ground plane. I can't remember exactly what the clearance was supposed to be, but it was well above spec. Pretty sloppy smudge of copper visible below the soldermask. They sent more boards than I ordered, so I can't really complain about getting ripped off, https://appsync.biz/abcya/ but I wasn't expecting this kind of an error on their part. https://appsync.biz/adam4adam/ We had to throw out the kid's board and start over https://appsync.biz/pof/
