Seeed PCBA Functional Testing
Seeed Fusion offers Functional Testing (FCT) and other testing and programming services for PCB assembly orders. Performed after assembly and general inspections, functional testing is a surefire way of ensuring your boards coming off the production line work as intended.
While Seeed will follow international assembly and quality control guidelines to maximize yield, as with any manufacturing process, there is always the potential for failures. Even more so with small batch or prototype assembly on a mixed line. As such, it is common to employ a functional testing program to isolate defective boards, whether the problem is incorrectly placed parts, failed joints or defective components - defects that may be difficult or impossible to catch with visual inspection alone.
Functional testing can be anything from a simple power-on test, point-to-point voltage testing, to running test firmware with custom-made jigs. Our lines are equipped with the essentials such as multimeters and function generators but Seeed also has the capability to develop test jigs and perform more advanced testing protocols. Seeed Fusion is now offering free functional testing for one piece with all PCBA orders. Verify the entire turnkey process and highlight defective batches with a quick test.
To add functional testing to your order, just select 100% Functional Testing or Free Functional Testing for one piece in the PCBA section of the order page. Upload your test plan and test materials and add the order to the cart.
For 100% testing, our engineers will update the quotation accordingly based on labor costs and any additional equipment costs. You can also upload the test plan after adding your order to the cart. The total production time will be extended according to the total testing time required.
For free functional testing for one piece, you can upload the test plan any time before the boards are complete. But make sure to get them in early so we can prepare in advance. The production time will typically be extended by two working days.
Example simple test plan:
1) Apply 9.9V to the contacts as shown.
2) One LED should light up.
3) Change the voltage to 12.6V and press the button once.
4) Five LEDs should light up.

Please note, high precision testing and high voltage testing or any operations that pose a health risk to technicians will not be accepted. Customers will be expected to pay for any specialist tools or materials required for testing.
