Some questions about reverse proxy server.
I launched a reverse proxy server by Apache with below configuration:
I have some questions:
1- The real work of a proxy server is just that lines?
2- The real configuration of the web server must be done on the another server? Consider below figure:
The SSL configuration and other Apache hardening and configuration must be done on the Apache Web Server and not the Reverse Proxy Server?
Please share your experiences.
Can you pls explain to me the difference between a reverse proxy server and a simple one? I read on the internet that "the most noticeable difference between reverse proxy and proxy is that a forward proxy is used by the users to connect to a web server. Reverse proxies are deployed on the web server's side. These proxy servers are on the contrary sides of the connection." What is the reverse proxy server role, then? And can it be applied to any site, or are they proxies for firefox? I have found some on https://help.proxies.com/hc/en-us/articles/360061543293-Firefox.
It's an interesting question.
Sorry, but I don't think that I will be able to solve it, but at least I will try.
